Atlanta rapper Jeezy is breathing a sigh of relief after winning an odd court case last week.
The “Sweet Life” rapper was sued by a former associate named Detetrius “Kinky B” Ellerbee, who claimed he and Jeezy were best friends and business partners, therefore making him entitled to half of the trap rapper’s earnings.
According to Ellerbee, he and Jeezy have been close friends for 20 years and in that time the pair co-owned two record labels and put out several mixtapes. He sought $5 million in compensation for monies he claimed to be owed for royalties and helping to kick start Jeezy’s career.
Though they were associates at one point, Jeezy refuted Ellerbee’s claims that the two were best friends or business partners at any point and presented documents relating to his CTE label that showed Ellerbee was never a partner. The presiding judged ruled in Jeezy’s favor and promptly dismissed the case.
Jeezy’s latest album “Church In These Streets” is slated to be released Nov. 13.
