Calais ‘Jungle’ refugee camp’s blazing fire: Is it retaliation for Paris attacks?

Calais

There is much speculation the war taking place at Calais, a port city in northern France, which is home to at least 6,000 destitute migrants and asylum seekers from the Middle East and Africa, is revenge. A popular, Jungle refugee camp, Calais has been overtaken in clashes between police and migrants. It’s believed the fire that engulfed the area is in direct retaliation for the Paris attacks.

Calais deputy mayor Phillipe Mignonet tells media, “There’s about 10,000 square meters on fire. We don’t know the origin of the fire yet. The fire brigades are fighting to reduce the fire, but because of the wind it is very difficult.”

His answer about the raging fire and it’s link to the attacks in the city, he says, “That is two separate things, and the fire there has nothing to do with the attacks in Paris tonight.”

Janice Atkinson, a member of the European Parliament (MEP) who represents south-east of England and was expelled from the United Kingdom Independent Party (UKIP) has called the migrants criminals who broke fences and said they should be detained. She warns: “Don’t come here.”

“If we build a camp that’s almost like a prison for those who have only committed crimes and we deal separately with the women and children, that sends a very, very strong message. They’ve all got social media, they’ve all got smartphones and that message can be sent home: ‘Don’t come here. This is what will happen.'”

Atkinson joined forces with Marine Le Pen, leader of the French party Front National, to create a far-right alliance. She serves as vice president of the group at the European Parliament called the Europe of Nations and Freedom.

In response to the migrants taking a stand and ditching their identification, the bigoted authoritarian was quoted saying, “I can tell a Sudanese gentleman from an Eritrean, from an Afghani and from a Syrian. And the Syrians are being pretty honest about who they are.”

Atkinson was expelled from UKIP for bringing the “party into disrepute” over an expenses claim where her chief of staff asked a manager of a restaurant for an invoice for a much higher sum than the bill she had originally received. She was overheard saying, “The idea is we overcharge them slightly, because that’s the way we repatriate it.”
