After answering a long-awaited request to sign a “curvy girl” to the Bailey Agency; Cynthia Bailey, the Bailey Boys and Bailey’s team held a model search casting call and now the wait is over. Vee Kamp, a curvaceous beauty from Misssissippi, beat out over 500 women (at least) who answered the call.

I had no idea how the five judges were going to decide only one winner out of all the curvy girls that showed up — however, consolation prizes were given to eight contestants. The process was quite impressive. The Bailey Boys were very organized and the models were anxious and attentive in following the instructions of the Bailey team.

There were some walks that needed improvement. There were a couple of heels that broke in the process but no one’s confidence was broken as they strutted their stuff down the runway. I almost got the nerve to walk the runway and enter the contest myself. But I didn’t want to shut the search down. Kamp was very excited to win, she had the sweetest Southern belle drawl I had ever heard as she gave her thank-you speech to the judges and Bailey.

The judges seemed very pleased and confident in their decision and not bothered by the 500 plus women that came from South Carolina, Alabama, Savannah and a lot of the curvy contestants were locals. The important thing to remember is while being curvy can be hot, it’s most important to be healthy. The winners of these contests are expected to represent brands of clothing and curvy girl attributes that display they are comfortable in their skin; and encourage others to embrace their curves.

On that note, it wasn’t surprising the judges would hail from curvy girl advocate brands like PZI Jeans, Ashley Stewart clothiers, Talking with Tami, and Lane Bryant. Congrats to Cynthia Bailey on her eyewear line and the decision to expand (no pun intended) the Bailey Agency brand with a curvy girl. Kamp walked away a winner and $2,500.00 richer. Runners-up won a photo shoot. Who knows, maybe curvy girls do have more fun! Check out the gallery and you decide:
