Few artists lead as interesting a life as Erykah Badu, and the veteran soul queen has certainly had some interesting relationships with other celebrities, whether it be public beefs on social media or high-profile relationships with acclaimed rappers. In her latest interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Badu opened up about her industry connections, both good and bad, including her spat with Azealia Banks and her former romance with Common.

While talking about Internet beefs, Badu opened up about her famous shade fests with angry Twitter fans and she explained that, oftentimes, people mistake her peaceful image for being passive or timid; two things which she is not.

“They don’t realize that the head wrap and incense can turn into Newports and Mad Dog 20/20 if need be,” Badu said.

The singer then opened up about her infamous Twitter beef with Azealia Banks, who slammed Badu after the singer explained to a fan that she wasn’t particularly fond of Banks’ music.

“I didn’t even know she was gon’ read it. I was just saying some s— really. Now, I’m peeping around corners everywhere I go,” Badu said.

Badu then switched gears from beefs to love and opened up about her romance with Common and how he previously claimed that she broke up with him over the phone.
