Deion Sanders may be feeling the urge to “Hit the Quan” in the end zone this holiday weekend. Remember that defamation suit he slapped his ex-wife Pilar Sanders with last year? Well, the former NFL’er scored a big win this week over the 41-year-old fitness fanatic, who has since been ordered to fork over $2 million in damages.
An attorney for Sanders tells TMZ that the football legend feels a great sense of “relief and vindication” in receiving a $2.2 million judgment against Pilar, after she blasted him in interviews and on social media, claiming she became a victim of domestic violence. Sanders on the other hand refuted his ex’s claims, alleging he never laid hands on the woman he was married to for 13 years.
As you may recall, the former couple had a very nasty, very public breakup in the fall of 2011, after Pilar was blindsided with divorce papers. During a few instances, things got so bad that cops had to step in. Now, it appears that all is water under the bridge, as the money Pilar now owes Deion offsets any money he would have paid in their divorce settlement. Bottom line? The 48-year-old owes her nothing. But she’ll still have to put together seven figures. Yikes!
Naturally, Pilar’s attorney says they plan to appeal. But we’re not anticipating it to be all that successful. As you may have heard, Sanders was originally seeking less than $1 million in damages. To receive well over $2 million says one of two things: either the judge was making an example out of Pilar; or, there is a lot more to this story. What are your thoughts?
