Serena Williams and Amy Schumer go there in the 2016 Pirelli calendar. In the 43rd edition, the Hollywood standout stars drop trou’ but not in the seductive style we’ve come to expect from the annual publication.
Shot by American photographer Annie Leibovitz, the storied calendar which made its debut in 1964, has decided to turn away from its roots as a high-fashion nude pictorial to something raw and real. “For 2016, we did something completely different, but it is still simple,” Leibovitz said in a press release. “It is a classic set of black-and-white portraits made in the studio.”
In an un-retouched snap, funny lady Schumer, 34, appeared to be caught off-guard as she posed sitting on a stool in nothing but a pair of lace underwear and nude heels, while holding a cup of coffee. Schumer herself raved over the image tweeting, “Beautiful, gross, strong, thin, fat, pretty, ugly, sexy, disgusting, flawless, woman. Thank you @annieleibovitz.”
Similarly, Williams, 34, was captured in profile, with her legs astride as she leaned on a nearby wall wearing only a pair of black underwear. Her fit bod is on full display, as her long dark tresses fall down her back. Among the other accomplished women taking part are writer Fran Lebowitz, outspoken Selma director Ava DuVernay, artist Yoko Ono and rocker Patti Smith.
