Company: Whose Deal playing cards
How did you get into the card creating business?
The idea came from many years of playing cards and noticing several areas that needed to be addressed. The Whose Deal card would help people to remember who dealt last and the labeled jokers helps with not looking for a pen or pencil to write on the jokers. These two areas, helps with “taking the guessing out of the game” of card playing.
Did you have an easy journey getting your cards created? Explain.
I would say it’s never easy. The idea for a product is one thing, but getting your idea to the product stage is another challenge. This entailed multiple designs, manufacturers and countless other things that you learn along the way. However difficult it may be, that’s not a reason to stop,
What makes your cards different from others?
My cards are different because they are unique in that they address two areas that most people encounter while playing cards all the time. The Whose Deal card is folded tent style and passed from player to player which helps with knowing who had the last deal, and the jokers are clearly labeled so it eliminates the need to find a pen or pencil to write on them for identification.
What are people’s reactions when they play with your cards?
People appear to be really excited about the Whose Deal cards, because of its simplicity all the while addressing their needs while playing cards. When I do demonstrations, most people have their favorite, either the Whose Deal card or the jokers. Overall, the response is very positive.
Who is your target audience?
The targeted audience is anyone who plays cards or board games. That would be adults, kids, seniors, magicians, military, veterans, etc. The audience potential is very large and diverse.
How do you feel about being an African American business owner in a field that hasn’t really been maximized for African Americans?
First of all, I am proud of the product and that it’s ready to go to market. Being an African American and female is equally important, I hope it encourages someone else to pursue their dream. The fact that the manufacturing of this product is not maximized by African Americans is all the more reason for people to purchase the product, to make sure that statement can be minimized.
What else would you like to share with African American consumers?
I would tell people if you have a vision to create a product or offer a service stay focused on your idea. It’s a lot of work to realize your endeavor. I think it’s equally important not to listen to those who try to steer you away from your dream. If you don’t try, how will you know what you can do. It’s just like this product, give it a try.
Where can people find and purchase your cards?
Whose Deal playing cards can be purchased on eBay, and you can also google the whosedealplayingcards.com website to make a purchase. The cards are sold in sets of two, which includes shipping costs. This time of year they make great stocking stuffers.
