If you’ve searched for Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies in every Walmart in town with no luck, the retailer has good news for you. The pies that sold out all over the nation before Thanksgiving are back in stores just in time for Christmas.
Walmart got a hold of two million California-grown sweet potatoes and now the pies that had the country in a frenzy are being shipped to every Walmart store today. The news was delivered through the Instagram page of Doug Mcmillon, the president and CEO of Walmart Stores, Inc.
“They’re back! Starting today and over the next two weeks, new shipments of #PattiPie arrive in stores nationwide,” Mcmillon wrote before thanking LaBelle and James Wright Chanel, the man who made the pies popular with his viral video review.
Additionally, since the dessert was the number one item on all Walmart Wish Lists in November, LaBelle’s pies will now be sold all year round.
To celebrate the second shipment of pies, the legendary singer herself recently stopped by a Walmart store to surprise fans and pass out samples of her sensational sweets. After taking selfies with fans, store associates presented LaBelle with a gold pie.
“This is better than a record,” LaBelle joked while receiving her plaque.
