Some jobs are a lot better than others. And for workers at one firm in Houston, they are employed at one of the best jobs in America.
According to KTVU in Houston, employees at Hilcorp will be placed in another tax bracket by the time Christmas rolls around in a few weeks. All of the 1,380 employees at Hilcorp will receive a bonus of $100,000 regardless of position. So even the custodial workers and receptionists will be taking home six figures before taxes.
Founded in 1989, Hilcorp is a one of the largest privately-held oil and natural gas companies in America. The company was named to Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Millennials list and and one of the top companies to work for list by the same publication.
In 2010, the company gave every employee either $35,000 or a $50,000 car after reaching a five-year goal. But what Hilcorp is providing for its employees appears to be rare.
According to a report by the Society For Human Resource Management, seven out of 10 Americans will not receive a Christmas bonus. Many companies continue to struggle following the economic downfall and other variables may come in play when bonuses are not given to employees.
