The Real Love Music Experience is a weekly event that pays homage to music from the ’90s and early 2000s. The brainchild of Tru Blud Entertainment, Rea Davis and Scales 925, it has now become more than just an event; it is a platform for up-and-coming artists, an oasis for R&B enthusiasts, and a second home for some of R&B’s most treasured names. You never know who might be in the building and on the stage.
“God has blessed me to nearly interview and cover almost everyone under the sun. Even still, those that follow me know my heart belongs to the ’90s. When I got the call from Marcel and Melvin Middleton of Tru Blud Entertainment to help put on The Real Love Music Experience, I screamed because they knew it was something we had all envisioned,” says Rea Davis, an entertainment writer for AllHipHop.com.
“It feels amazing to be able to bring a night of classic and timeless music to Atlanta, break new talent, and celebrate the veterans and legends of R&B,” says Davis, who has interviewed music royalty from Usher and Timbaland to Diddy and Babyface.
This week’s installment of The Real Love Music Experience with Keke Wyatt headlining exceeded all expectations. Some of the city’s top up-and-coming artists opened the show. Artists such as Jon Mero, Antonio Ramsey, Havok Jones, and Lola all passionately performed their favorite R&B songs.
R&B veteran Case sang a Stevie Wonder classic during an impromptu performance prior to Wyatt gracing the stage.
The city has embraced and supported the event, and so have several notable people in the music business.
“It’s bringing back good music, good vibes and it’s something really good for the people. This is what we need. Children back in that time were made out of love, more pleasant, everybody was happier, and more present. This is what we need. We need this good stuff to put back in the spirit, ” said Deb Antney, the founder and CEO of Mizay Entertainment, about the Real Love Music Experience.
Antney’s sentiments were echoed by DonJuan Clark, the general manager of Kandi Koated Entertainment.
“I think this is an amazing event for R&B in Atlanta to show that we have a lot of amazing singers here. R&B is like, you have Tyrese and Adele coming out singing amazing R&B music and we got like some of the best singers and they’re coming out to T.I.’s place weekly and giving unsigned talent a place to showcase is amazing. This is the hottest event that if you’re not in the building, then you’re the only one in Atlanta not in the building and you should be in the building because you’ll never know who may stop by or who you’re going to see,” said Clark.
Wyatt closed out the show with the songs “Nothing In This World,” “My First Love” and “If Only You Knew.”
