Police have arrested an active duty US Marine in the road rage killing that occurred on New Year’s Eve. Cpl Eric Johnson, of Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1, was arrested by police at his duty station in Yuma, AZ over an incident that took place in Denton, TX. Police say that Johnson was in a black SUV that approached the car of Sara Mutschlechner, 20, while at a stoplight and began making sexual comments about her and a female passenger. It is reported that Mutschlechner and her two male passengers engaged in a heated exchange with the Marine.

A short time later, the SUV followed Mutschlechner and fired into the car hitting her in the head and causing the car to crash, injuring her passengers. All involved were at a rap music house party that featured hardcore lyrics, alcohol and rowdy behavior. Mutschlechner was transported to a hospital where she died a short time later. Her parents and fellow students at the University of North Texas are saddened and outraged over the senseless killing. Mutschlechner was a sorority member of Zeta Tau Alpha and was well liked on the campus. Johnson now faces extradition back to Texas for the shooting.
