The real estate business is one of the most competitive industries there is. WE tv gave millions of viewers a glimpse of just how drama-filled the life of a real estate agent can be with the hit reality series “Selling It: In the ATL.” The show followed seven successful realtors as they fought over Atlanta’s golden property, The Beltline.

Every other episode the cast was involved in heated spats between each other causing them to lose long-term friendships, valuable clients, and properties. And cast member Jae Christian wasn’t too happy with the misrepresentation of her character on the show.

“Reality TV is about ratings and I feel they only showed the negative moments happening between myself and the other ladies. I did the show to  highlight what I do as a real estate agent, but people didn’t get to see that,” she says.

Jae spoke with rolling out to clear the air on what really went down and the current state of her relationships with the other cast members.

What has the reality show aftermath been like for you now that season one is over?

Now that the show is over, and seeing some of the episodes, people didn’t get to see who Jae really is. People didn’t get to see me in my personal or business life. Every time you see me on the show, I was either going off on someone or in some type of drama. People didn’t get to see what caused my initial reaction and I am not one to go off on someone for just any random reason. [There] is a reason why I said certain things I said. People don’t get to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff or realize that most of the content is edited. I wish people would have got to see more of me and my business.

Why did you want to be on the show?

I wanted to join the cast because I felt like a lot of times on these reality shows you see people who are already successful. My story is different and that is why I wanted people to see what I have to go through to make in the real estate business.

Do you feel with the way you were negatively portrayed on the show will taint your career as a real estate agent?

All the other ladies were seen showing clients property, but I didn’t get to show anything. I feel like already being younger and newer to the business makes people not take me serious. At the end of the day, this is my profession and how I eat. I take pride that I have been in real estate for a short period of time and accomplished so many things.

For the viewers who didn’t get to see a more charming side of you, what do you want them to know about you?

Every time I go out and meet people they are so shocked when they find out I am nothing like the person they see on TV. They think I am mean and messy, but I have great relationships with a lot of the cast members. I am fun, outgoing, goofy and very mature for my age. I don’t take anything for granted and I don’t take anything back I said. Sometimes I look back and think maybe I could have said some things in a different manner, but I am just really passionate so my words come out with aggression.

What is your relationship like with the other cast members?

Gwen and Okevia are like my big sisters and I love them to death. Gwen is much older than me, but we have so much in common. They both give me the respect I deserve as a businesswoman. Chrishina and I are cool. Sarah and I are cordial when we see each other. As for Alana we speak sometimes, and Talia we don’t communicate at all.

What have you learned from being on the show?

I have learned that you don’t have to always give a reaction. Even though I may feel passionate about something it doesn’t mean I need to voice my opinion. The truth is going to come out one way or another. I don’t always have to be the one to expose it.

What do you think the possibilities are of a season two happening?

I definitely think so. This show has a lot of potential. I think the show could have gone a different way than it did, but I think a season two will push the storyline in a different direction.
