Do Drake and J. Cole have something special in store for fans? According to Hot 97’s Ebro Darden, the rap superstars are set to announce dates for a summer tour, as soon as this week. “There’s a rumor that I heard that there’s gonna be an announcement this week of a Drake and J. Cole summer tour,” Darden said on “Ebro in the Morning.”
Just this past weekend, Drizzy announced plans to release his next album, Views From the 6, in April during episode 14 of his OVO Sound Radio show on Apple’s Beats 1. The 29-year-old marked the highly anticipated news with the release of his new track “Summer Sixteen,” where the Toronto native took a few playful shots at fellow rappers Jay Z and Kanye West. In case you missed it, just last year the “Hotline Bling” recording artist headlined Coachella and Wireless. He even trekked through the U.S. and Canada for his “Jungle Tour.”
Meanwhile, J. Cole is fresh off last year’s “Forest Hills Drive” tour. During his hometown show in Fayetteville, N.C. in August, he surprised fans by bringing the Champagne Papi out on stage. However, Cole also hinted at releasing new material with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year, when he spit over Lamar’s “Alright”. “This February, bet sh*t get scary when I f*ck around and drop,” he said during his “Black Friday” freestyle.
Although there is no confirmed word (yet) regarding a joint tour between the hip hop heavyweights, the duo appears to play well together. Not to mention, two of hip hop’s hottest acts on tour during the year’s biggest turn-up time is everything a fan could ask for.
