Having a hard time getting a last-minute dinner reservation on Valentine’s Day? Don’t let that dissuade you from turning up the heat on one of the year’s most romantic holidays. Staying in can be just as rewarding as an extravagant night out on the town. Thanks to Anthony Taccetta of Anthony Taccetta Event Design and member of The Chosen Few, we’ve got a few simple tips on how to woo your sweetheart with the perfect at-home celebration.

Table setting – When it comes to Valentine’s Day the standard colors are always red and pink, but that can get old fast! Change it up and incorporate Black, Red and White into your color scheme to give your table a more edgy presentation. Black is a little unorthodox for Valentine’s Day, but using small accents such as black plating or silverware gives your table a more modern and elegant feel that your sweetheart will love!

X’s and O’s – Hugs and kisses are important on Valentine’s Day, so use cut out X’s and O’s to accent the table. You can even hang them from the ceiling.

Sweetheart raspberries – This one is sweet, simple and adorable. Just get some fresh raspberries and filled them with semi sweet white and dark chocolate chips. Pop them in a decorative bowl and enjoy.

Valentine’s Day Oreos – Dip Oreos in vanilla melted chocolate and add colored pink, red and white sprinkles – so easy, but such a cute presentation. You can also opt for pink chocolate-dipped Oreos by simply adding red food coloring.

Candles – Buy multicolored ribbons from any craft store and then decorate various sized mason jars. Add some little tea candles and you have the perfect lighting to set the mood.

Centerpieces – Keep it simple and find black-and-white striped gift bags. Add a glittery red heart to the center and than fill them with white and red roses. If you prefer fuller flowers, opt for carnations.
