Beyoncé’s new athleisure line, Ivy Park, has arrived and the BeyHive is buzzing. The clothing line, a joint venture with Sir Philip Green of the Arcadia Group, became available for sale yesterday, April 13, via Topshop, Nordstrom, and Net-A-Porter, among others. But what can you expect?
Well, according to Green, you can expect only the best quality as Beyoncé herself was incredibly hands-on throughout the process of creating the line. “She basically wanted to try on all on the outfits in front of the girls, so that wasn’t an invite for me, that one. And more importantly, I wanted to make sure that she tried all of them and that she was happy.” Green revealed to USA Today. “We didn’t just come and pick up and stretch fabrics and off we went. We spent six months developing the fabric — the pants, the bras, all the athletic wear — for great soft touch, soft handle, and I think it’s got an everyday yet fashionable element to it.” Adding, “she [Beyoncé] signed off on every piece.”
In a recent interview with ELLE, Yoncé discussed the work she put into the collection. “We had countless meetings; we searched for and auditioned designers for months,” she said. “We really took our time, developed custom technical fabrics, and tried to focus on pushing athleticwear further.”
With a long line of t-shirts, tanks, hoodies, and leggings, ranging from $25-$185, there’s a little something for everyone trying to get their hands on Bey’s style. Up next, Green says his hope is to expand the brand. He said, “We’ve been discussing adding footwear in (and) adding some accessories in. This is the start of building a brand, which I hope will have longevity.”
