Columbus Short is facing faces yet another legal problem.

Short, who most recently starred in ABC’s hit “Scandal,” failed a recent drug test, which in turn could result in a probation violation charge in his felony assault case, reports the Associated Press. According to court documents obtained by the AP, Short tested positive for cocaine and marijuana. In response to the record, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge swiftly scheduled a court date for the troubled actor on May 9.

As you may recall, in September of last year, the 33-year-old pleaded no contest to coldcocking Fenton Hyche III at an L.A. hot spot in 2014. At the time, he was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, and two months of community labor and anger management counseling for breaking the Hyche’s nose, fracturing his eye socket, and rendering him unconscious. The actor was also ordered to pay Hyche more than $14,000 in restitution to cover medical bills and lost wages. Although Short has reportedly completed anger management counseling, he has not yet fulfilled his community labor obligations.

Of course, this is not Short’s first foul. He was arrested for physically assaulting his then-wife, Tanee Short, in front of his 2-year-old and 10-year-old children in February 2014 at his Woodland Hills home. Prosecutors also charged him with child abuse because of the emotional trauma the kids suffered. Short pleaded not guilty.

Two weeks following his domestic incident, Short was arrested in Chatsworth, California. He and his wife got into another heated argument when Short allegedly pushed her, TMZ reported at the time. In 2010, Short was prosecuted for a brutal attack on an L.A. basketball court where he sucker punched a player, bashing in his teeth and cutting him. Short pleaded no contest to charges of disturbing the peace but and was charged with aggravated battery. The case was later dismissed.

Unfortunately for Short, his latest offense may very well land him a seat in the clinker. While we understand he’s been very vocal about his struggle with drug abuse, we can’t help but wonder whether the court will deem him a threat to himself and others.

What are your thoughts on Short’s latest trouble? Should the court order him to rehab or place him behind bars? Sound off in the comment section below.
