Tracia Jones is on her way to becoming entertainment’s new “it” girl.

The 22-year-old Alabama native stumbled into the industry by mistake two years ago, but now that she’s in, she’s taking her profession seriously. Jones has already modeled for Mercedes-Benz and fashion week runway shows in New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. She’s recently been making a splash into film and television, having made appearances as an extra on “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and the upcoming Jamie Foxx film, Sleepless Nights.

As a woman who loves to speak her mind, Jones is also hard at work making a name for herself in radio. She can be heard on 99.9 The Plug. The busy young lady is also no stranger to hosting and has done so on red carpets, at parties, and other events in Hollywood.

When the beauty isn’t strutting down the runway or chatting it up with celebs, she can be found working on her college degree and mentoring high school children on the modeling industry. Jones is certainly a jack-of alltrades who has her sights set on mastering it all.

We chopped it up with Jones about her progressive career and more.

When did you realize you wanted to become an entertainer?

I did my first modeling fashion show two years ago in Atlanta. I went to support my friend, and one of the designers happened to be short a model. She asked me if I wanted to model for her. I said yes. Since then, I’ve been in the entertainment industry.

You’re studying sports management and communications at Troy University in Alabama. Why did you choose sports management?

I’ve always liked sports. I was going to go for physical therapy, but I ended up changing it. Sports management is something I can fall back on. I have about a year and a half until I graduate.

Out of all the things you do — modeling, hosting, acting, mentoring — what makes you the happiest?

That’s a hard question. If I had to pick one, it’d be radio, because I like to talk and do interviews and meet celebrities.

What would you tell a young girl in high school who wants to be a model and actress? What is the best advice you can give her on how to start and what to watch out for?

I would tell her to begin her portfolio by setting up different photo shoots so you can start getting your name and face out there. Start locally, and then you can branch out. Watch out for scammers — if you’re looking to sign to an agency, don’t sign to one that’s asking for money.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself being a successful model and being successful in sports management by being a sports agent. Hopefully I’ll be living in L.A.

You’ll be in the upcoming Jamie Foxx movie, Sleepless Nights. Tell us about the film.

We filmed it last year. It should be coming out sometime this year. The film is a remake of the old Sleepless Nights. A man’s kid gets kidnapped, and [Jamie’s character] goes through trials and tribulations to get him back.

What else do you have in the works?

I just finished a movie that’s based on the book, True to the Game. It should be coming out in September. I’m working on a hair line and a hair care line. I’ll also be on an episode of “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.”
