Just in case you were wondering what Hilary Clinton thought of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” this is for you.
During a recent Facebook livestream on Ellen DeGeneres’ page, the Democratic presidential hopeful fielded a number of questions from fans, including one from Taylor Swift: “Have you seen Lemonade and do you like it?”
“I have seen parts of it, and I do like it,” responded Clinton. Of course, Clinton’s diplomatic answer left us with more questions than answers like: which parts did she see? The sultry “6 Inch”? The goosebumps-inducing “Forward”? Whichever part, it appears to have left a positive impression, as she’s now teasing the idea of Bey for vice president.
During a presidential game of “Who’d You Rather” Clinton went on to evaluate a long list of possible vice presidential candidates, including musicians, actors and politicians. Although Bey won a number of rounds, she lost in the end to current first lady Michelle Obama.
“I really believe in making lemonade out of lemons,” Clinton slyly added as she chose Bey over Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake and actor Bradley Cooper.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Clinton has name-dropped Beyoncé on the campaign trail. During an Iowa town hall meeting in December 2015, she did her best to gain the Beyhive’s vote when she compared her presidential aspirations to the pop star’s stage presence. “I want to be as good a president as Beyonce is a performer,” Clinton said to the audience.
“You see her on TV, it’s impressive; you see her in person, you’re just stunned,” Clinton said of the singer. “Thinking like, ‘How does she do that?’ Really. I mean, she’s singing, she’s up and she’s down. She’s just amazing.”
In March, Clinton was spotted at a Los Angeles shoot where Beyoncé was putting the finishing touches on her “Lemonade” visual, Us Weekly reported at the time. Then in May, Bey attended a high-profile fundraiser hosted by L.A. Reid in support of Clinton’s campaign in New York City. In other words, it’s no secret the pair are fond of each other.
