Nothing creates romance like a repossession — said no one ever.
After missing a couple payments on his Ferrari’s lease, rapper Tyga was targeted by the repo man. Oddly enough, TMZ reports that the “Rack City” recording artist and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, were looking at new whips at a Bentley dealership in Calabasas on Tuesday, Aug. 30, when the repo man rolled up, gaining access to the vehicle with a spare key, before speeding off as the couple shopped. Talk about living beyond your means. Fortunately for the pair, friends who were close by were able to scoop them up.
As fans know far too well, Tyga’s recent repossession is just one of the many financial woes he’s faced over the last several years. In 2015, the 25-year-old was hit with a tax lien for unpaid taxes dating back to 2009, 2010, and 2011 — totaling nearly $20K. A year prior, Uncle Sam came for the “Hookah” rapper once more, for unpaid taxes to the tune of $91K.
Just last week, the father of one was forced to pay a landlord $186,000 after he breached his lease by “failing to pay rent and other amounts due” when he abandoned the premises without notice in June 2015. Upon inspection, documents alleged that the residence was left in “gross disrepair, utility bills unpaid and hazardous environmental waste that required professional clean-up,” E! News reported at the time.
Earlier this month, Tyga faced an additional landlord in an eviction case. According to court documents, Tyga agreed to pay $16,000 per month for the home where he ran his side business, Egypt Last Kings Clothing. Only three months after moving in, he stopped paying rent, forcing the landlord to take legal action, People reports. Once evicted, an inspection discovered that Tyga had inflicted $480,000 in damages on the home. Rumor has it, he nabbed a good deal, paying only a small percentage ($80,000) in damages.
Although it appears that Tyga has gotten off easy in the past or simply found a way to skate around his financial issues, we think it’s time he stops frontin’ for fame.
