Chris Brown’s latest run-in with law enforcement continues to raise questions.
As previously reported, the “Loyal” singer made headlines this week after former Miss California Regional 2016 Baylee Curran claimed he threatened her with a gun. It all allegedly went down while the model attended a party at his home. According to Curran, she was admiring some diamonds at R&B crooner’s home when a man started shouting at her to get away from them.
“Chris came in, pulled out his gun and said, ‘I’m getting so sick of you people,’ pointed the gun at me, [and told me] to get the f— out of the house,” she told “Extra” at the time, explaining that she fled after being asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement. At 3:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, officers responded to a radio call of a female screaming at the home. After a nine-hour standoff, Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released later that night, after posting $250,000 bail.
Curran who is wanted in connection with a 2013 grand larceny incident at the famous New York City Plaza hotel and was reportedly stripped of her pageant title, allegedly vowed to set Brown up. “Hey safari don’t you know this freak Chris brown is kicking me out of his house because I called his friend jewelry fake can you come get me my Uber is messing up if not I’m going to set him up and call the cops and say that he tried to shoot me and that will teach him a lesson I’m going to set his a– up. Lol come get me,” Curran reportedly texted an acquaintance named Safari, shortly after she was kicked out of Brown’s house.
Now, Brown’s attorney has spoken, saying there were neither guns nor drugs found at the singer’s home upon inspection. “From the best of my knowledge, for the entire time I was there, there was no gun — or guns — found in that house whatsoever,” Geragos said during a press conference on Friday, Sept 3. “There were no drugs, that I’m aware, that were found in that house whatsoever.”
Geragos also said that “nothing was found that corroborated” Curran’s statement. “[Police] were specifically looking for a specific type of jewelry that was not found,” Geragos added, also claiming that none of the six witnesses supported Curran’s claim. “The story that was conveyed to me by the witnesses there was that nothing happened, and that this woman got irate when she was asked to leave because she was acting in an erratic manner,” said Geragos.
While Curran denies sending the texts, Brown’s team is working to authenticate them. “We’re going to be calling for a formal criminal investigation if we can … authenticate the texts that were sent, because if those texts were true, then it gives great credence to what my client said initially, which was, ‘nothing happened and this was a set up,’ ” Geragos added.
