Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas had one of the most public and heart-wrenching breakups of 2016 as fans watched for an entire year as their marriage fell apart on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Although the divorce wasn’t amicable, it looks like the former couple is still keeping the peace.
This weekend, Bailey posted a photo of herself and Thomas smiling together on the beaches of Hawaii as they took part in an “RHOA” cast trip while also celebrating Thomas’ birthday.
“Happy Birthday @peterthomasrhoa Continued love, peace & blessings. Always love Enjoy your day
#happybirthdaypeter,” Bailey wrote.
Bailey also shared photos of herself with the rest of the “RHOA” cast, but the buzz has been growing about the photo with Thomas because of the messy split they just endured recently.
The former pair’s marriage took a major blow last year when Thomas was caught on camera inappropriately touching another woman at his North Carolina bar. But things got worse on the latest season of “RHOA” as fans learned that Thomas and Bailey’s marriage was also struggling because their career ambitions were keeping them apart.
After months of trying unsuccessfully to work things out, Bailey announced in July that she planned to file for divorce from Thomas.
“I want to take some time for myself. I think the time apart has been good for him as well. It wasn’t like I had to do it right this second but the more we got used to not being together and living together, the easier this divorce is going to be,” Bailey shared. “I don’t want it to be an ugly divorce because I still love Peter [Thomas]. I just don’t want to be married to Peter anymore. It’s as simple as that. I still root for him. I want him to win. I still love and support him. We are just not going to be married anymore.”
Thomas responded to her announcement and explained that he was blindsided by the news that Bailey didn’t want to be married to him anymore.
“…Until July 5th, I thought we were in agreement about our separation until I was flooded with calls, text messages, direct messages, and emails from my closest friends and family members. They were concerned about my well-being after reading news stories and blog posts where my wife says, ‘We are just not going to be married anymore.’ We have discussed divorce. It wasn’t something that I wanted. But it is something that I believe she thinks she needs,” Thomas said at the time.
Well, it seems like the pair is at least keeping the peace for now and we hope they can both move on as peacefully as possible.
