Today on “The Real,” special guest co-host Eve opens up about the first time her husband, British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, saw her without her weave.
“He’s probably the only guy who has seen me [without my weave] — I wouldn’t let guys see me in my braids or in that moment,” the “Gangsta Lovin'” rapper revealed. “Now, I’m like I don’t care.” The Philly native went on to reveal that the instance happened early on in their relationship. “It probably happened out first year. That’s when I knew — I guess we staying together.”
When prompted to tell the whole story, the 2002 inaugural winner of the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration said, “I was actually getting my hair done — I was at a salon — in a salon suite and he walked in. It was like ‘what am I going to do, run?'”
“I’m his first Black girl anyway,” she continued, before revealing she’s put him through “weave 101.” Now, if Eve says she is getting her hair done, Cooper simply knows to ask “Well, how long?”
“But then he loves me without. He could care less,” Eve continued. “He loves me without.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Eve has gushed over her relationship with hubby Maximillion. “It’s fun, we’re driving together for his company Gumball 3000. That’s how I met him. That’s a test for a relationship, drive 300 miles. Trust me, we’ve done it three years in a row,” she told People of her relationship.
As for what makes their bond so strong, she revealed, “Honesty and loyalty. You know we take it day by day, month by month,” she said. “We respect each other, we are the realest. It’s the realest relationship I’ve ever had. He’s my homie. All those sound like cliches but really it’s working.”
“We can’t wait to have kids of our own,” she added. “Whoever is in charge, make it happen. I can’t wait.”
On June 12, 2012, donned in a gorgeous gown by British designer Alice Temperley and a cathedral-length veil, the 35-year-old hip-hop star and British Gumball 3000 motor rally CEO and co-founder tied the knot in Ibiza, Spain. “I’m so happy to make Eve my wife,” Cooper told E! News at the time. “The whole experience has been amazing and we are both so happy to have tied the knot.”
