Lee Daniels was so elated he posted a video on social media with his partner and family in tow on his way to the unveiling ceremony for his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Daniels called it a classy day and exclaimed he was going to play classical music as he wanted to be classy on the way to getting his star.
“It’s a star day. A star is born,” said his daughter, Ciara. Less than 60 days ago we were celebrating Kevin Hart receiving his star. 2016 has certainly been a good year for people of color in the film and television industry. Daniels was joined by his industry friends Queen Latifah, Gabourey Sidibe, Jussie Smollett, and his daughter Ciara Daniels and mom Clara Watson, during his unveiling ceremony honoring him with the 2,595th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Daniels, who comes from humble beginnings in Philadelphia, started his career in the entertainment industry as a casting director and talent manager. He founded an entertainment company, Lee Daniels Entertainment, which in 2001 produced his first feature film, Monster’s Ball, for which Halle Berry took home an Oscar. Daniels directed crime thriller Shadowboxer in 2005, starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Then fast-forward to 2012 when he directed Precious, the movie that garnered Mo’Nique an Oscar for her role.
Daniel keeps moving forward with his current hit “Empire” starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard and he hasn’t stopped there as his new TV series “STAR” which is set to debut in December.
Congrats again to Lee Daniels. Please keep helping people live their dreams on camera through your creative direction.
