CeeLo Green has live streamed a conversation explaining to fans that he didn’t get injured following what appeared to be a cellphone exploding in his face while he was chatting it up at a music studio.
In the video, Green says, “I want to let everyone one know, I am a alive. I am well. I am OK. And truthfully, I am really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today. And actually what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project we were doing called Gnarly Davidson. Forgive me y’all. I am still going to release it though … I want to thank everyone for their love and concern. Much love thank y’all.”
Blogger Philly Chase was the first to break the news. He placed the video on his Instagram page and even included Samsung in the post leaving many to assume that Green was speaking about the popular Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone that was recalled this past October due to its tendency to explode.
Chase tells Buzzfeed he received the video early Saturday morning by an anonymous text message. “I thought it was fake,” he says. “Why would somebody go through the trouble of doing something like that?”
When he sent a reply to the number, his messages kept bouncing back. “I’ve never had anybody send me anything anonymous[ly].
“The thing that puzzles me: Why go through the trouble? What would be the point?” he asks. “He’s a multimillionaire. It may be more beneficial for someone like me, who isn’t getting the exposure he’s got.”
He also received a copyright infringement notice from Instagram, so he removed the video from his account. He didn’t believe this was a battle worth engaging in.
“It is what it is,” he closes.
