In a recent report from the architecture and design industry, construction has launched on a $315Mhourglass-shapedd tower in Melbourne, Austraila as an ode to singer Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter.
“We will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic – we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyonce’s ‘Ghost,'” says a representative from design firm Elenberg Fraser.
The silhouette is a tribute to the undulating fabric-wrapped bodies of dancers in the singer’s music video for “Ghost” from her self-titled 2013 album.
The 68-story structure formally named Premiere Tower will be located on the west side of the city’s central business district. It will contain 660 apartments, as well as a 160-room hotel.
The units will be a mix of hotel guestrooms, condos, restaurants and retail spaces. It has also been announced that the building’s unique panoramic modeling has capabilities to respond to shifts in climate change.
The Premier Tower is expected to be completed in 2020.
