Michelle Obama commands about as much as some former presidents for speaking engagements, according to Axios’ Mike Allen,

Mrs. Obama, 53, just collected $200K for her first speaking engagement since she and her husband left the White House on Jan 21.

That seems like a lot for single speech for a former first lady who has never held office. But that is still half of what her husband, former President Barack Obama, 55, has made for two recent speeches. Barack Obama collected about $400K for those two speeches.

Therefore, Michelle Obama’s speaking fee is about as much as what former President George W. Bush, 70, required after he left office and a little less than what former President Bill Clinton, 70, gets.

On Thursday, Michelle Obama appeared at the annual Institute of Architects conference to speak about her accomplishments, such as the “Let Girls Learn” initiative that is reportedly in jeopardy from the current administration, and life after the White House.

During her speech, Michelle Obama reiterated her position that she will never run for public office. However, this does not mean that she will never be in the public eye or that she and Barack Obama would be resting on their laurels. Obama said the couple intends to be active and involved.

“Barack and I have been in public service our whole lives,” she explained. “Public service will always be in our blood.”
