On June 6, 2017, the ONE MusicFest Experience hosted a lineup release party to announce the artists coming to Atlanta for the ONE Music Festival. The annual festival is now in its eighth year of production and has been described as “the Southeast’s premier urban progressive music and arts festival.” This year, the festival’s lineup features several big names, including Jill Scott, Jidenna, Sean Paul and Kaytranada.
The ONE Music festival will be held at two separate venues on Sept. 8 and 9. On Friday Sept. 8, the first leg of ONE Musicfest will be held at the Tabernacle in Midtown and will feature performances by Thundercat, J.I.D., Ari Lennox and Noname. The next day, ONE Musicfest moves to Lakewood Ampitheatre and the experience continues. The second day of the festival will have 11 hours of nonstop music, DJ performances on three different stages, merchandise tables, and a food truck village. This year’s festival will also be particularly special — Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, will be the closing act.
The lineup release party, hosted by the One Musicfest Experience and its sponsors, was held at the Westside Cultural Arts Center. DJ Jeremy Avalon of the Werc Crew provided a live DJ set for all the attendees, followed by a live performance by Atlanta-based fusion band All Cows Eat Grass.
Past productions of the ONE Music Festival brought hip-hop’s best names to Atlanta, and last year’s festival was complete with several crowd-pleasing acts and surprises, including performances by Erykah Badu, Ice Cube, and Atlanta’s own legendary Dungeon Family.
Jason “J” Carter is the founder of brand and event management company Sol Fusion Media. As head of the company in charge of producing the festival annually, Carter says that “every year, ONE Musicfest grows and expands. We’ve built something that fans can really look forward to and we aim to create moments that inspire and invigorate attendees. Expect this year to be historic. We can’t wait to see you there.”
