Floyd Mayweather will face-off against Conor McGregor in what is being hyped by some as “the fight of the century.” Millions will be generated as Mayweather, a traditional boxer, goes against McGregor, a UFC fighter. The two most popular men in their respective sports are set to do battle.
However, it won’t be much of a battle. During the weigh-in at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, McGregor was the obvious crowd favorite. Hundreds of Irish flags were waved in the arena as his fans chanted the Irish song, “A Special Bread.” Mayweather was booed mercilessly in his hoometown. It’s clearly a crowd that will support McGregor. Mayweather countered the boos by saying,”The fans can’t fight for you.”
And that’s basically what this fight will come down to. McGregor and his fans can yell, dance, and sing, but there isn’t a chance that McGregor will defeat Mayweather. Even with Mayweather being a 40-year-old fighter who hasn’t entered a ring in over two years, his skills will make this a one-sided beat down.
McGregor has the power of a left hook, but that hook will be ineffective against a skilled fighter such as Mayweather who knows how to make an adjustment to his opponent during the fight. McGregor will come out aggressive and looking for the early knockout. But McGregor will find it hard to hit Mayweather who is always elusive in the ring. If it goes to round 5, Mayweather will begin to frustrate McGregor who take an enormous amount of punches without being able to land. Mayweather rarely knocks any of his opponents out, but he uses them as punching bags for 12 rounds.
When the fight if over, McGregor’s face will be swollen, he will be confused, and will thank Mayweather for his big payday.
