This writer will never forget sneaking into Jay-Z’s pre-Grammy party in Century City, California, a town on the edge of Beverly Hills that reeks of fresh crisp $100 bills. It was the “Two Kings” party that was co-hosted by Hov and Cleveland Cavaliers’ megastar LeBron James and included the likes of wife Beyoncé, Rihanna, Academy Award-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio, King James’ wife Savannah James, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, and billionaire baron Warren Buffett. There was about as much Secret Service-type protection sprinkled about the party as there normally is for the president of the United States. The place rocked.
The point is that Jay’s pre-Grammy parties always attract the crème de la crème of the entertainment business, and is quickly becoming as legendary as music boss Clive Davis’ annual galas at the Beverly Hilton across town. The 2018 edition was no different, as rap royalty T.I. and Diddy (with trophy piece Cassie, of course) roamed the building with R&B divas such as Beyoncé and Mariah Carey. Full of millionaires, Roc Nation’s annual pre-Grammy brunch incited some hilarious and petty memes.
