Filmmaker and director Bryan Barber and his wife, Cicley, prepare to say their final goodbye to their handsome son. God’s doe-eyed angel, young Bryan J. Barber II, was called to his heavenly home earlier this week and will be laid to rest on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in metro Atlanta.
Barber is the filmmaker and director of the 2006 film Idlewild starring André Benjamin, Big Boi and Terrence Howard. A Clark Atlanta University graduate (1996), he’s widely known for directing rap music videos for major hip-hop acts like Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def artists, as well as award-winning videos for OutKast (MTV Video of The Year, Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Special Effects for “Hey Ya”).
Barber is a cousin of this publication’s CEO Munson Steed, so we share this devastating news on this platform with heavy hearts.
Barber wrote on his Instagram:
Thank you for everything son. I’ll never forget you and what you brought into my life. Endless smiles, laughs and tickles 🤗. You made me live again. You were a gentleman and you made me better. You made an impact and contribution to the world through your kindness. You were my hero, you were also my best friend and will always be. Keep smiling until I see you again. Say hi to Prince for me. I love you with all my heart forever. Love forever Dad.
