Country and pop music superstar Taylor Swift got some serious shade thrown at her by a British journalist backstage following her performance at the Biggest Weekend festival on May 27.

The Grammy-winning and multiplatinum singer spoke with a reporter who told Swift, according to Us Weekly, that she definitely needed to take a shower. A pregnant pause was followed by an awkward exchange to close out the interview, and it caught the attention of the singer’s fans, who ganged up on the journalist and dragged him all over cyberspace.

BBC Radio 1’s Greg James said, “It’s nice to see you. I think you need to have a shower now.” Their interview came shortly after Swift had finished her performance at the Swansea, Wales festival, where, as US Weekly reported, the thick humidity hovered around 80 percent.

Swift didn’t even flinch when she quickly said, “I agree! And I’m not offended that you said that! There’s a lot going on and none of it’s good.”

Even though US Weekly said James made the imprudent comment as a joke, most of her fans were outraged.

A Twitter user verbally spanked James, telling him on Twitter, “Where are your manners?”

While some weren’t happy about the backhanded remark, other Twitter users joked that the comment was “#rude” and also included some laughing emojis for good measure.
