The city of Pittsburgh is a powder keg as emotions run high since the shooting of an unarmed Black teen last week by a rookie police officer. Antwon Rose, 19, was a passenger in a car that was stopped by police during a search for a shooting suspect. Rose bailed from the vehicle and was chased by rookie Officer Michael Rosfeld, who had only been on the police force 90 minutes. During the short chase, Rosfeld shot an unarmed and fleeing Rose three times in the back.

Footage of the chase and shooting was live-streamed and the community was outraged. There have been constant protests since the shooting and local activists are demanding justice and accountability. Now two days after Rose was buried comes the New York Daily News is reporting that Officer Rosfeld has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide for shooting Rose. This means that the perpetrator “intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or negligently causes the death of another human being.”
