New documentary explores the suspicious death of a Black man in police custody

Sugar Town, a two-hour documentary from Investigation Discovery, debuted nationally on Monday, Aug. 6, at 8 p.m. EST.  The film was featured at last week’s National Association of Black Journalists conference in Detroit.

The documentary explores the suspicious death of  Victor White III, 22, who was fatally shot in the back of a patrol car on March 2, 2014, while being transported to the police station.


Rolling out national correspondent Je’ Wesley Day was at NABJ and conducted an exclusive interview with his father, the Rev. Victor White Sr., about the documentary and the suspicious circumstances surrounding his son’s tragic death.
