Khalid Donnel Robinson, who performs as just “Khalid,” is a five-time Grammy-nominated artist who is selling out shows in every city on his tour. His stop at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Tuesday, July 23, was a sold-out show.
Fans showered him with an overwhelming round of applause when he hit the stage. They screamed with excitement when he hit the stage, belted out every song with him during his performance and danced like no one was watching.
Khalid’s high energy on the up-tempo songs was evidenced by him jumping around the stage, dancing with his back-up dancers and being very playful with the fans. During the slow songs, he gave fans an emotional soulful experience. The lyrics to the song became very personal for him as he spoke of his journey to be a free spirit. Fans lit the stadium up with camera phone lights and some fans even cried and hugged each other.
The tour is inspired by his second studio album, Free Spirit. Khalid sang his chart-topping hits “American Teen,” “Location,” “Better,” “Saturday Nights” and many more. His soft melodic voice and his friendly stage presence kept the crowd on its feet the entire night. On the final song, a young lady threw her bra on the stage. Khalid grabbed it, twirled it around, and left the stage smiling.
