The late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was tragically shot to death in March of this year, is among the collaborators on Rick Ross‘ new album, Port of Miami 2.
Ross is preparing for the Aug. 9 release of the follow up to 2017’s Rather You Than Me, and recently revealed that the late rapper will be featured on the record.
Ross wrote on Instagram, “Port of Miami started me on this journey. It’s only right I bring it back to where it all started. For my day ones to the new ones, this album is for you.”
The rapper’s debut album Port of Miami was released on Aug. 8, 2006. The album’s first single, “Hustlin” was a major hit off the rip and received a phenomenal amount of airplay.
Port of Miami 2’s tracklist features a Nipsey Hussle and Teyana Taylor collaboration and contributions from other major artists including Meek Mill, Drake, Swizz Beatz, Wale and Jeezy.
In June, the BET Awards rolled out a blue carpet tribute to Hussle who was known for wearing blue outfits on stage. Hussle received BET’s Humanitarian Award posthumously and was named Best Male Hip Hop Artist.
The late star’s longtime love Lauren London accepted the wins on his behalf and in a nod to Hussle’s Marathon Clothing store commented, “The Marathon continues again.”
