Singer-songwriter Travis Malloy reflects on his music influences and new album

What was the inspiration behind your album Faith Journey?

I feel like I’ve been writing this album my whole life. I mean, no matter what religion, no matter what race, no matter what you do, I believe somehow we are all on a faith journey in some way. … So faith journey is just closing your eyes and jumping into no matter what it is your dreams, your aspirations, anything that you want to live.

What can we expect from you at the Imaginarium Film and Music Festival?

I’m bringing everybody. I’m bringing the whole band, the singers, and we’re going to spend time on that stage delivering some of the new music from Faith Journey. [We’re] going to be sharing the stage with some of the big bros, James Fortune and Isaac Carree, and some other amazing people. I mean to share the stage with them, as well as the writer and director and producer of my favorite movie, The Five Heartbeats, Robert Townsend. So I’m really, really excited to be a part of merging the cultures together.
