So we changed our dress code about maybe a year ago and it’s dress for your day. Its one of those things that you don’t necessarily think about as being a diverse action, but, it’s been really well received. [Diversityn is] something we definitely pay attention to. We have our employee resource groups, we call them business synergy teams. We recently rolled out an interfaith one. I think a lot of times people are like, “Oh you’ve got your multicultural one.” We’ve got our gay-straight alliance but we had a lot of people that were really interested in learning more about faith.
What are some of your departmental objectives?
Our director of diversity and inclusion retired this year and so did our executive director of the Nissan Foundation. So we’ve got two new people in those roles. One of my goals is to create some new relationships for them.
We’re really trying to get the word out more about the Nissan Foundation. We give to nonprofits that are in areas where we have major business operations. In some areas, we get a great response and there are others that don’t really know about us. So [we are] trying to increase in those areas and make sure we’re getting really quality candidates that are applying for grants.
