Amina Daniels, founder of Live Cycle Delight in Detroit, is staying the course

What inspires you to keep going, even in the toughest of times?

I continue to be inspired by people, but I also limit the number of people that influence me.

Describe some of your daily responsibilities as an entrepreneur?

I work daily to be as authentic as possible. I don’t follow fads. I feel it’s my responsibility to stay true and not be influenced by what sells quickly. I hire trainers with integrity who are intentional, and I lead with inclusivity, making sure that we have a diverse number of trainers.

Who are two fitness experts that you follow?

Sarah Clark, who’s a yogi. Her practice is so thoughtful. And Robin Arzon, who’s a Peloton cycling instructor.

How have Black women changed the narrative that we don’t work out?

We’ve done the work. We’ve advanced and started to occupy the wellness industry because we’re starting to disrupt it. Right now, we are and have always been healers.

How have you been able to bounce back after a challenge?

I used to be so worried about this business. Would I be a success or make enough money to support myself? Now, I don’t worry. I don’t waste my time worrying about the things that I can’t control. I control what I can and do the work. I can’t live my life in a state of panic.
