What has been your most challenging moment thus far?
Exploring my strengths and weaknesses and tapping into more of who I am and who I am not. My job is to recognize what makes me an effective leader, continue professional [and] personal development and eliminate the weaknesses that will hinder the growth of my company. I read and meditate. This is done by empowering, developing and building strong leaders within R.B. Pest Solutions. At times, it can be challenging. It’s shaping our culture and giving us the tools we need to continue becoming the fastest-growing pest control company in the world.
What does it mean to you to be a Black woman running this kind of business?
It’s like being a unicorn twice because there are not many women who are running pest control companies and being Black adds an extra layer during meetings and contract negotiations. I’m tested daily to see if my team and I can really exterminate. Some question whether this Black woman is really capable of taking this successful pest control company to its highest potential. I believe what my team and I are trying to achieve has never been done before by a Black-owned company.
