Singer Chris Brown lashed out at border patrol agents who have employed inhumane tactics to round up thousands of Haitian refugees at the USA-Mexico border outside Del Rio, Texas.
As it has been reported in media outlets, patrol officers were captured using horsebacks and whips on Haitians to force them back across the border into Mexico or boarding them for return flights to Haiti.
Brown shared his rage at border agents’ reprehensible actions, reminiscent of the days of slavery, to detain families and to herd them back to their troubled nation.
Brown then sounded off about the atrocious treatment of Haitians to his nearly 100 million Instagram followers, while demanding that something be done about it. Haitians have been fleeing the outbreak of violence since the assassination of their president, Jovenel Moïse, on July 7, 2021. The following month, Haiti was devastated by a crippling earthquake and then, weeks later, battered by a hurricane that swept across the Caribbean island nation.
Over 15,000 Haitians migrated to Texas from Mexico and had been living in squalor under the Del Rio International Bridge. Texas officials responded by declaring a state of emergency because the migrants are reportedly unvaccinated.
Brown was far from alone in speaking on this atrocity. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fumed at the images that flashed across the news screens.
Reports of the mistreatment of Haitian migrants fleeing violence and devastation from natural disasters are deeply troubling, including the inappropriate use of what appear to be whips by Border Patrol officers on horseback to intimidate migrants.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas added he was “horrified.”
“That is not what our policies and our training require. Please understand, let me be quite clear, that is not acceptable,” he said in a statement obtained by MSNBC. “We will not tolerate mistreatment, and we will address it with full force based on the facts that we learn.”
