Your agency has been able to defy the cultural stereotype that Black artists often seek non-minority representation once their careers reach a certain level of success. Is this pattern changing?

I have had a couple of artists that started their careers with me but as their careers grew they started to believe or were told that they needed to hire certain attorneys. Fortunately, I have been able to retain most of my clients and we still get referrals for top tier and emerging artists. Since Donald and I started Carter Woodard, we have both been contacted by people in and around the entertainment industry who are excited about what we are doing and they want to be a part, [so] we’re hopeful there will be a continuous shift toward talent and executives looking more at Black attorneys.
