Just days after officially squashing their beef, Ye and Drake are joining forces for a Free Larry Hoover benefit concert.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Nov. 20, Ye announced that the concert will take place on Dec. 9 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. According to the L.A. Coliseum’s website, the goal of the concert is to “raise awareness and support for Larry Hoover and the cause of prison and sentencing reform.”
“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride aside and come together,” said Ye in a statement on the website.
Ye is set to headline the concert with Drake coming on as a special guest.
“With Ye, Drake, and J Prince united to advocate for my father’s release, we can take our plea for redemption worldwide and show that we are truly stronger together on behalf of any and everyone with a loved one wrongly or unjustly incarcerated …. free my father,” added Larry Hoover Jr.
The “Jail” artist initially teased the possibility of the benefit concert in the second installment of his “Drink Champs” interview that also featured Larry Hoover Jr. who made a spoken word appearance on Ye’s latest album, Donda.
Ye has been quite vocal about his support for Larry Hoover over the years. During a 2018 meeting with former President Donald Trump, Ye pleaded for the former gang leader’s clemency highlighting Hoover as “very important” to him.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. PST on the Los Angeles Coliseum’s website.
