Drake ignited a furious debate online when the Toronto-born emcee declared that Kodak Black is the best rapper of this generation — and will be of the next one as well.

The Certified Lover Boy rapper, 35, went on Kodak’s Instagram Live broadcast to shower the Florida-based rapper with effusive praise.

“You really all that for this generation and the next one if we being honest,” he said resolutely.

Rap fans realized that Drake was a big Kodak fan when he danced to one of his hit songs, “Black Skrt,” back in 2015.

Kodak’s last studio album, Bill Israel, was released while he was still in prison in 2020 when Kodak became a Hebrew Israelite. The album rose to No. 42 on the Billboard pop charts and No. 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

After Kodak got out in 2021, he dropped a couple of mixtapes — Haitian Boy Kodak and Happy Birthday Kodak — but some fans don’t believe the albums bespeak a generational talent.

The internet erupted with debates about Drake’s proclamation. One Instagram user said in the comments: “not even close.”
