Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens shares plans for 1st 100 days in office

“We have already started working on issues of crime and youth engagement. Studies show that a disproportionate amount of the crime can be attributed to young people, even school-age youth. 60% of our crime in 2021 occurred by individuals that are under the age of 24. Between 16 and 24, 60% of the crime occurred. So we’re prioritizing youth engagement and education in this administration.”

Towards the end of his statement, he announced a new investment that will help benefit small businesses in the city.

“In less than a couple of weeks, you’re going to hear a $20 million small business investment announcement that I’ll be making, where you guys will be able to apply to get grants and other things.”

“I feel that Black businesses are over-mentored and undercapitalized, but we’re about to change that and give some money so that you can be able to buy new equipment, hire employees and overcome the challenges that have faced you during this economic downturn from the pandemic.”
