Another supporter, Tanya, won tickets to see Wale through the local radio station, WGCI.
“This is my first time ever winning anything,” she stated, “This is how I’m starting off my birthday celebration.”
The Grammy-nominated artist adhered to a unique style of rapping the second verse of his songs in an acapella, poetic, manner when spewing legendary tracks like “Diced Pineapples,” “Bad,” “Sue Me,” “Lotus Flower Bomb,” “Ambition” and “Pretty Girls.” The overhyped crowd kept the same dynamic energy when he introduced his melodic flows and after performing upbeat, “go-go music” influenced records throughout the hour-long show. Wale was eager to display his collaboration with Chicago artists like Jeremih and Lil Durk when performing songs like “On Chill” “The Body” and “Break My Heart.”
At the end of the night, the rapper reflected on his performance in Chicago on his Twitter account, especially the outpouring of love he witnessed during the proposal.
“Dawg, somebody proposed to they girl at my show last night on stage … and I haven’t stopped thinkin’ bout it. … That level of love is so intimidating I never really grasped it … to see it like that up close was amazing.”
