Dr. Cameron Webb addresses the myths surrounding COVID-19

Why is it dangerous for people to intentionally contract COVID-19 so they can try to get it over with?

Terrible idea. And I don’t say that with any hesitation. I am literally sitting in a hospital that is filled with patients with COVID-19, more patients than we’ve ever had in my hospital here at the University of Virginia, who are walking in here with COVID-19. When people say it’s like the flu, it may be a less severe form of illness for people who’ve been vaccinated. That’s true. And I think that’s because of the power and the impact of the vaccines. You may recall that even in the earliest days of this pandemic, 40 to 50% of COVID cases were asymptomatic. Don’t let people tell you there’s not a risk because the thing about COVID is it’s unpredictable.
