Megan Thee Stallion gave journalist Gayle King the painstaking breakdown of her argument with former friend Tory Lanez that culminated in the alleged gunfire that injured Megan in Los Angeles in July 2020.

King said on “CBS Mornings” that Megan Javon Ruth Pete, 27, spoke publicly because she has grown weary of being vilified on social media, and she remains wary of the mentality of those overzealous fans who support Lanez.

Megan began by saying that she initially thought she was engaging in a normal disagreement and banter that often happens between friends.

“It was an argument because I was ready to go and everybody else wasn’t ready to go. But that’s, like, normal friend stuff,” Megan explained to King in an interview that aired on Monday, April 25, 2022.

“I never raised my voice too loud. Like, this was one of them [sic] times where it was, like, it shouldn’t have got this crazy.”

Still shaken by that moment, Megan began tearing up as she recalled feeling that those might have been the last moments of her life.

“All I hear is this man screaming. And he said, ‘Dance, b—-.’ And he started shooting. And I’m just like, ‘Oh, my God.’ Like, he shot a couple of times. And I was so scared.”

The Grammy award-winning artist continues on as she gives King the play-by-play of the alleged shooting.

“He is standing up over the window shooting. And I didn’t even want to move. I didn’t want to move too quick … If I take the wrong step, I don’t know if he’s gonna shoot something that’s, like, super important.”

Megan added that she was frozen with terror.

“I don’t know if he could shoot me and kill me,” she continued. “I was really scared ’cause I had never been shot at before.”

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged Lanez with one count of assault with a firearm, and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, all felonies. If convicted, Lanez would face up to 22 years in prison.

Lanez has maintained his innocence and pled not guilty during his court appearance in L.A. in 2021.
