The woman who played a big part in R. Kelly’s legal troubles for more than two decades testified on Aug. 18 that he sexually abused her “hundreds” of times starting when she was 15 years old.
Kelly is charged with creating and receiving child pornography and obstruction of justice, among other charges. The current charges are based on a tape that showed Kelly allegedly having sex with a teenage girl, and then urinating on her.
The now 37-year-old woman, testifying under the pseudonym “Jane” in court, told jurors that when she was 13, she asked Kelly to be her godfather because she saw him as an inspiration and mentor. Within weeks of the request, Kelly would call Jane and say sexual things, which then led to him touching her private parts when she was 14-years-old. Around that time, he “started penetration” at his home in Chicago. When Jane was 15, they started having intercourse, and Kelly was around 30 years of age at that time.
Prosecutors asked Jane how she would know what to do during intercourse, and she answered “He would tell me what to do.” When asked how many times they had sex before she turned 18, Jane replied “Uncountable times, hundreds.”
