Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have received a lot of attention over the past week as they will make history on Feb. 12

The two players will become the first Black quarterbacks to start against each other during Super Bowl LVII. The two have had amazing seasons for their respective teams, and are in the race to win NFL MVP.


Besides Hurts and Mahomes, there are more Black players that’ll be participating in Super Bowl LVII that have had good seasons as well, and you should know who they are.

A.J. Brown 


This was A.J. Brown’s first season with the Eagles, and he showed out with 1,496 receiving yards, fourth most in the league this season.

Chris Jones

Chris Jones is one of the top defensive players in the league, and the best on the Chiefs. He knows how to get to the quarterback.

Darius Slay

Darius Slay is known as a ballhawk, and that’s why many quarterbacks don’t throw his way. If they do, it may result in an interception.

Orlando Brown Jr. 

Orlando Brown Jr. did a good job of protecting Mahomes this season, which earned him a Pro Bowl nod.

Miles Sanders 

Miles Sanders was the leading rusher for the Eagles this season with 1,269 yards, which was fifth-best in the season.

Frank Clark 

Frank Clark is another player on the Chiefs that has a niche for getting to the opposing team’s quarterback.

Haason Reddick

The Chiefs have a few players that are good at getting to the quarterback, but the Eagles do as well. Reddick had 16 sacks in 2022, which is tied for second most in the league.

JuJu Smith-Schuster

JuJu Smith-Schuster had 933 yards for the Chiefs this season.
