Lionel Richie, Earth, Wind & Fire tear down State Farm Arena (photos)

The legends still have it

Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire joined forces to continue their joint tour with a stop at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Aug. 22.

Both legendary acts kept the night high energy with top-of-the-line effects. Earth, Wind & Fire paid tribute to late lead singer Maurice White, while Richie paid tribute to Michael Jackson by performing “We Are the World.” Richie interacted with the crowd all night, telling jokes about how he deals with hysterical fans during performances when he’s trying to remember lyrics from songs that are over 30 years old.

Earth, Wind & Fire’sured middle lead vocalist Philip Bailey was the man who kept the crowd on its feet as the group performed an hour full of hits. Original group members Verdine White and Ralph Johnson also performed.
